NEP 2020,
in the computer lab.

India's National Education Policy asks schools to teach coding and computational thinking, to test real skills instead of memory, and to keep parents close to each child's progress. Here is what it asks for, and how Quala Labs brings it into a school's computer lab with the CBSE 2026–27 syllabus built in.

01 · The policy

NEP 2020 in two minutes

The National Education Policy 2020 is the Government of India's plan for how schools teach, from pre-school to Class 12. It replaces the old 10+2 pattern with four stages, cuts each subject down to its core, and moves learning away from memorising towards doing, thinking and applying.

  1. 5FoundationalPre-school to Class 2 · ages 3–8
  2. 3PreparatoryClasses 3–5 · ages 8–11
  3. 3MiddleClasses 6–8 · ages 11–14Coding begins
  4. 4SecondaryClasses 9–12 · ages 14–18CS, IP and AI

Coding from Class 6

“Activities involving coding will be introduced in Middle Stage.”

NEP 4.25

Computational thinking for all

Digital literacy, coding and computational thinking are named among the skills every student should learn.

NEP 4.23

Learning by doing

“In all stages, experiential learning will be adopted,” moving away from rote learning.

NEP 4.4, 4.6

Tests of skill, not memory

Assessment becomes “more competency-based” and tests analysis, critical thinking and conceptual clarity.

NEP 4.34

A 360-degree progress card

A holistic progress card that “will form an important link between home and school”.

NEP 4.35

Digital classrooms

“Schools will develop smart classrooms, in a phased manner, for using digital pedagogy.”

NEP 4.46

What NEP asks, and how Quala Labs does it

Each line below is something a school can switch on in Quala Labs today.

NEP 2020 asks for How Quala Labs does it
Coding and computational thinking from the Middle Stage 4.23, 4.25 Students write and run real code in the browser from Class 6, with Computational Thinking and AI topics ready for Classes 6 to 8.
Experiential learning, not rote 4.4, 4.6 In Live Class the teacher sends a problem to every screen and each answer is run against tests in seconds. Competitive Mode turns practice into a class contest.
Competency-based assessment of higher-order skills 4.34 Homework gives each student their own question, so it cannot be copied or memorised. Lab exams use question variants and rubrics that mark the thinking as well as the output.
A holistic progress card linking home and school 4.35 My Progress shows each student their results, strong and weak topics and honours. Parents get a two-page report, and a whole class prints in one click for a parent-teacher meeting.
Software that helps students track growth 4.35 Koala, our AI assistant, gives a stuck student a hint without the answer and suggests marks with reasons. The teacher always decides. On Premium and Enterprise.
Digital classrooms, in phases 4.46 Runs in the browser on the lab computers a school already has. Nothing to install for lessons, and the exam app keeps exams on the school's own devices.

The CBSE 2026–27 syllabus, built in

Every question a teacher writes can be tagged with its topic from the CBSE 2026–27 curriculum. The principal sees which topics each class has covered and where it is weak. Students see what to practise next.

Computational Thinking and AI

CBSE's new curriculum for Classes 3 to 8 from the 2026–27 session, built on NEP 2020 and NCF-SE 2023. Quala Labs covers Classes 6, 7 and 8.

Classes 9–10 · Secondary

Computer Applications (165) and Artificial Intelligence (417)

From cyber-safety, networking and HTML to data literacy, AI projects and Python.

Classes 11–12 · Secondary

Computer Science (083) and Informatics Practices (065)

Python, data structures, SQL, networks and Pandas, on the same CBSE syllabus the NCERT Computer Science and Informatics Practices textbooks follow, so practice in the lab matches the book on the desk.
